Our blocks are handcrafted from start to finish using a stunningly beautiful central Serbian plum woods. Its heartwood can exhibit a profusion of fascinating range of colors, typically varying from brown to gold yellow, to pink and even purple!

The “grill” accommodates up to 14 various sizes of knives, safely and easily accessible on your counter or dining table. The knife block is designed with no closed slots or holes that can collect any dust or grime.
Hence, it is very easy to maintain and keep clean. On the bottom of the knife block felt dots are added for stability.

In Serbs, growing plum trees is a tradition. The Serbian plum (Serbian: шљива / šljiva) often referred to as “blue Serbian gold’ is the third most produced in the world. Depending on the region, there are several varieties of the plant. There is the Požega Plum, the Italian Prune Plum, the Čačak Early Plum, the Čačak Beauty, the Čačak Best, the Stanley Plum and the California Blue.

In the Balkans region, and Serbia especially, plum is converted into a famous alcoholic drink named šlivovica (plum brandy) (Serbian: шљивовица/šljivovica).

Šljivovica, the brandy made of plums with the exquisite aroma and the fascinating taste, has become the first trademarked Serbian brand with geographical origin.

Apart from being famous for preserving tradition and using a countries-old recipe to distil unpolluted ripe plum into this unique brandy it is far less noticed that the plum wood is just as equally fascinating in its grain texture.

Common uses: Turned objects, musical instruments, pipes, inlay, and knife handles.

Oiling it with the special blend of oil below, will keep it looking like new for many years!
